Conference Call
Sometimes it is necessary for off-campus students to call in so that they can give presentations or participate in discussions. In the event that this is necessary, the student producer should start a conference call in Skype before the class begins. The volume of the call, and the voice of off-campus students, can be adjusted by turning up the computer volume or adjusting the PC Audio knob in one of the control room stations.

How to Setup Skype for a Conference Call

1. Start Adobe Connect for the appropriate class on the Instructor PC and login using ede@iastate.edu
  • Enable the Microphone, Webcam and Speaker

2. Start Skype from the instructor PC. Login to the EDE skype account if not already available.

3. Use the Skype keypad to call 1-866-4616.
  • When prompted, key in the provided passcode followed by a "#".

4. Use the phone in the backroom to call the number and check the audio quality in the room.
  • Turn up the PC Audio knob at the encoder station so that it is loud enough on Wirecast.
  • Inside the room, make sure that the caller can be heard. Adjust the Program Audio knob in the sound closet appropriately.
    • If it is too quiet, turn up the knob up until the caller can be heard.
    • If there is feedback, turn the knob down until you can talk into the instructor mic comfortably.

5. Start recording in the Adobe Connect window.
  • Click the "Meeting" tab and then click "Record Meeting".
